How close are you to Lucas Oil Speedway? We are incredibly close—just 600 feet from the main gate! You can easily park your rig and walk right over to the races without worrying about traffic or parking.
Are there any lakes nearby? Yes! We make the perfect basecamp for water lovers. We are just 15 minutes away from both Truman Lake and Pomme de Terre Lake, offering excellent boating, fishing, and relaxation.
How long has Sidetrack RV Park been in business? Sidetrack RV Park has been operating since 2007 and we are the original and best rv park in Wheatland Missouri.
🏕️ Lodging, Sites, & Rig Restrictions
Are you open year-round? (Seasonality) Sidetrack RV Park is a seasonal park open from March through October for RV and tent camping. However, our fully furnished House and Cabin rentals are available year-round! What types of RV sites do you offer? We offer 31 level gravel base, grass covered sites equipped with premium full hookups, including city water, city sewer, and 30/50 amp electric service. Because every single site has its own sewer connection, you'll never have to wait in a long, frustrating dump line on Sunday morning! We can easily accommodate everything from massive rigs to small pop-up campers.
Are your sites pull-through or back-in? We offer all back-in sites. Our park roads and site approaches are wide and spacious, making parking easy even for larger rigs.
Are there length restrictions for specific sites? While most of our sites are a spacious 30'x50' and some can handle massive rigs up to 55+ feet, we do have a few specific exceptions:
Site 1: Maximum RV length is 20 feet (High-traffic area near the gate).
Site 2: Maximum RV length is 25 feet.
Sites 26,27,28,29: Maximum RV length is 35 feet (Please note: This site sits next to a private residence—please respect our neighbor's space!).
Do your sites accommodate slide-outs on both sides? Yes! Our sites are wide enough to comfortably accommodate modern rigs with slide-outs on both sides, while still leaving plenty of room for your awning.
Do you offer any other lodging options besides RV sites? Absolutely. If you aren't bringing a rig, we have you covered:
The House: A fully furnished 3-bedroom, 2-bath house. Sleeps 10.
The Cabin: A cozy 1-bedroom, 1-bath cabin. Sleeps 4.
Tent Camping: Available on a first-come, first-served basis.
🛏️ Note: Our cabin and house rentals include all bedsheets, linens, and basic household goods and dedicated WIFI. Just bring your food, drinks, and racing spirit!
🏁 Bookings, Cancellations, & Race Weekends
Do you require minimum stays during major race weekends? Yes. For major high-traffic events at Lucas Oil Speedway (such as the Show-Me 100 or Hockett), we require a minimum 3 night stay. Please book well in advance, as these weekends fill up fast!
What is your cancellation policy? Our policy depends on the type of reservation you have made:
Daily & Weekly Reservations: If you cancel at least 7 days before your scheduled check-in day, you will receive a full refund (minus any third-party booking platform convenience or resort fees, like Spot2Nite). Cancellations made with less than 7 days' notice are non-refundable.
Monthly Extended-Stay Reservations: Cancellations made 30+ days prior to your scheduled arrival will receive a refund minus a $150 cancellation fee. No refunds are given for monthly reservations canceled less than 10 days prior to arrival.
What is your no-show policy? Reservations are held until check-out time (11:00 AM) on the day following your scheduled arrival. Failing to show up or notify the park by this time constitutes a "No Show," resulting in automatic cancellation and full forfeiture of all funds.
What happens if a race is rained out? Sidetrack RV Park stays open rain or shine, and our operational costs remain the same. Therefore, we do not offer refunds or credits due to race cancellations, weather disruptions, or track schedule changes.
Do you offer any discounts? We proudly accept Passport America and Harvest Hosts discounts. Please note that these discounts are not valid during major race weekends, holidays, or other peak times.
🍦 Amenities & The Barn
What amenities are included with my stay? Guests have full access to The Barn, our community hub, which includes:
Free Ice from our commercial-grade restaurant ice maker.
A Public Kitchen equipped with a refrigerator, microwave, cooking utensils, and everything you need to prep a family meal.
A Modern Shower House with private showers and clean restrooms.
Outdoor Fun: A huge covered patio with ceiling fans, a community grill, a massive firepit with picnic tables, and yard games like Washers, Cornhole, and Disc Golf.
Is there entertainment inside The Barn? Yes! Rain or shine, we have plenty to keep you busy. Inside you'll find a pool table, darts, foosball, pinball, Donkey Kong, air hockey, board games, a cozy fireplace sitting area, and big-screen TVs to catch your favorite sporting events.
Do you have laundry facilities on-site? No, while we do not have laundry machines on-site, there is a convenient laundromat located just minutes away over at the Hickamo car wash.
🚗 Parking, Vehicles, & Speed Limits
Is there a limit on how many vehicles I can have at my site? Each RV site reservation includes parking for one RV and one primary towing/tow-behind vehicle.
Where can I park my race trailer or extra guest vehicles? If you are hauling an extra trailer, bringing a second vehicle, or expecting visitors, please let us know ahead of time. Extra vehicles must park in our designated overflow parking area to keep the park roads clear for emergency vehicles. Do not park on empty RV sites or non parking areas.
Can I have day visitors at my campsite? Day visitors are absolutely welcome! However, all visitors must park in our designated overflow parking area, respect park quiet hours, and leave the property by 11:00 PM. Registered guests are entirely responsible for the behavior of their visitors.
Can I bring my side-by-side, UTV, or golf cart? Yes, and it is highly encouraged! It's the absolute best way to experience Lucas Oil Speedway and the town of Wheatland. However, all motorized vehicles must be operated by licensed drivers only and must remain on designated park roads.
What is the speed limit inside the park? To ensure the safety of all our guests, children, and pets, the park speed limit is strictly 5 MPH at all times.
📋 General Park Rules & Safety
What are the check-in and check-out times? Check-In Window: 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM (Please call ahead to arrange early/late arrivals, we understand life gets in the way).
Check-Out Time: 11:00 AM (Late check-outs must be approved by the onsite manager).
Are you pet-friendly? Yes! Well-behaved pets are welcome at Sidetrack RV Park, including in our rental house. Please keep your pets leashed and clean up after them at all times.
Are individual campfires allowed at my RV site? We feature a massive, shared community fire pit at The Barn for everyone to enjoy. If you wish to have a fire at your individual site, it must be in an elevated, self-contained fire ring with a mesh lid. Ground fires at individual sites are strictly prohibited.
What is your severe weather policy? Your safety is our priority. In the event of severe midwestern weather or active tornado warnings, The shower house over at the Lucas Oil Speedway campground or the Wheatland school building serves as designated emergency shelters.
Where should I take my trash? Please secure all household trash in bags and drop it into the large dumpster located near the entrance. Please do not leave trash bags outside overnight, as we like to keep our local wildlife in the woods!
Do you have an RV dump station? Because all 31 of our RV sites feature full city sewer hookups, there is no need for a separate dump station—you can dump directly from your own site!
